GeoChanvre Mulch Mat is made from 100% biodegradable hemp fibre and is recommended for small and large-scale planting projects where soil conservation and weed suppression is required.
GeoChanvre Mulch Mat allows water penetration, retains moisture in soil and encourages worm activity, making it the perfect topping for healthy plants and natural horticulture.
GeoChanvre Mulch Mat prevents unwanted weed growth by blocking out sunlight, thereby effectively suppressing unwanted competing vegetation regrowth around the plant. At the same time, the fibrous structure of the fabric allows moisture penetration, making it an ideal material for use as a weed mat to aid sapling establishment.
The rate of deterioration will depend on climate and soil conditions. GeoChanvre Mulch Mat will gradually biodegrade over the course of many months after installation (may reduce in wet conditions), improving the soil as they go.
GeoChanvre Mulch Mat protects soil surfaces from erosion by wind and rain, and therefore has many uses as a geotextile in landscaping and civil engineering.
